Date: October 12-26, 2024
Location: Changed to Virtual Only
Start Time: 8:00am

Due to the impact of Hurricane Milton, the Igniting the Flame Domestic Violence Awareness 5K Run/Walk has been transitioned from an in-person event to a virtual event . This change is in line with the City of Tampa’s decision to close the park and cancel all events for safety reasons. While we are disappointed, the safety of our participants is our top priority. The park may sustain damage that will require time to repair, so to accommodate everyone, we have extended the virtual participation window from October 12, 2024, through October 26, 2024.

We understand that some participants have inquired about refunds. As outlined in the waiver you agreed to during registration, no refunds are available unless you purchased additional refund protection through RegShield, which is a third-party insurance provider. If you did purchase this insurance, please contact help@fanshield.com for assistance with your refund request.

This decision was made due to circumstances beyond the control of Restoration & Purpose Community Outreach, and we deeply appreciate your understanding during this time. We hope that you and your families are safe in the aftermath of the hurricane.

We encourage you to continue supporting our mission by participating in the virtual 5K, helping to raise awareness for domestic violence. Many of you enjoy running with others rather than alone — this is a wonderful opportunity to invite a friend, family member, or loved one to join you in the run/walk! It’s a great way to spend time together while supporting a critical cause.

To ensure you receive your 5K participation medal and swag gear, we kindly ask you to confirm your mailing address within RunSignUp. Alternatively, you may pick up your items at our office located at 1085 E Brandon Blvd, Brandon, FL 33511. Please contact us at (813) 657-0117 to schedule a pick-up time. Your swag gear and 5K participation medals will be mailed out starting Tuesday, October 15, 2024 .

Additionally, please remember to submit your race time and upload any photos on the RunSignUp site. We will still be recognizing the top 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category (male and female) based on the times submitted. You can use the "Results" button below to submit your race time beginning on October 12th until October 26th.

We sincerely hope that this change does not deter you from joining us in future events. Your ongoing support is crucial to our cause, and we remain committed to providing meaningful events for our community.

Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.

Warm regards,
Dr. Tracy L. Spencer-Sandolph, SGM (R)

April marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time when we come together to shed light on the prevalence of sexual violence and stand in solidarity with survivors. In line with this important observance, Restoration & Purpose Community Outreach, Inc. invites you to make a profound impact on the lives of survivors through our "Swing for Hope Golf Tournament."

Our organization is dedicated to providing essential resources such as advocacy services, an emergency safe haven, clothing, and personal hygiene items to individuals and families affected by sexual violence, domestic violence, homelessness, and human trafficking. The proceeds from this event will play a pivotal role in assisting survivors as they take the courageous first steps towards independence.

Our Mission: As we observe Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Restoration & Purpose Community Outreach, Inc. is committed to eliminating the barriers that prevent survivors from leaving abusive situations. By providing the necessary resources and a safe haven, we aim to empower survivors to reclaim control over their lives and break free from the cycle of violence and despair.

How You Can Make a Difference:

1. Participate in the Golf Tournament: Join us on April 6, 2024 at Summerfield Crossing Golf Course 13050 Summerfield Blvd., Riverview, FL 33579 for a day of golf, camaraderie, and purpose. Your participation not only makes for an enjoyable day on the green, but directly contributes to the restoration of lives, especially during this critical month of awareness.

2. Donate to the Cause: If golf isn't your game, consider donating to our cause. Your financial support will help provide survivors with the essential resources they need to rebuild their lives and move towards independence.

3. Sponsorship Opportunities: Explore our various sponsorship packages to showcase your commitment to social responsibility. Sponsorship not only raises awareness for your brand but also directly supports survivors on their journey to healing.

April is a time to recognize the resilience of our survivors and advocates. We celebrate their perseverance in the fight towards a world free of sexual violence. Your involvement in the "Swing for Hope Golf Tournament" during Sexual Assault Awareness Month will serve as a beacon of hope, bringing attention to the urgent need for support. Together, we can make a significant impact, offering survivors a chance to break free from the shackles of abuse and build a brighter, more empowered future. Join us in the pursuit of restoration, purpose, and a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
